Warren Lee, University of Toronto

Warren LeeDr. Lee is an assistant professor of Medicine at the University of Toronto and an attending physician in the Medical-Surgical Intensive Care Unit at St. Michael’s Hospital. He obtained his PhD in the Programme in Cell Biology at the Hospital for Sick Children in the laboratory of Dr. Sergio Grinstein, followed by postdoctoral training at Weill Medical College of Cornell University in the laboratory of Dr. Carl F. Nathan. His research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of endothelial dysfunction during sepsis, with a particular interest in the effects of human influenza on the microvascular endothelium. He has published numerous articles on the role of innate immunity and inflammation in critical illness and was awarded the John C. Polanyi Prize in Physiology/Medicine from the Government of Ontario in 2008 and an Early Researcher Award in 2011.
